Lenten Podcast 2007

Dear Friends,
As some of you may remember, during the 2007 Lenten Season the Missouri Conference of the United Methodist Church posted a series of Lenten Podcasts at the Conference web site. The podcasts were 2-3 minute recorded devotions given by both clergy and laity in Missouri. I was one of the clergy who posted a Podcast at the Conference web site. Maybe some you remember listening to it.

For reasons unknown to me, the Missouri Conference did not offer to post podcasts in 2008. Perhaps there was a lack of interest and/or the early date of Lent/Easter this year caught us unaware.

Now that I have the capability to post my own Podcasts, I decided that I would "rerun" my 2007 Lenten Podcast. I could have recorded a new message--and maybe I will next year--but I figure that the message of Lent is timeless. Thus, what was true in 2007 is still true for 2008.

To listen to the podcast, please click HERE.

Now please keep this in mind. The 2007 Lenten Podcast was my first attempt ever at recording a podcast. I had a very low-fidelity recording set-up. I had to heavily mute my banjo to keep it from overpowering my voice. So the quality will not be anywhere near my recent recording of Psalm 24. Even so, I hope you find this devotion to be meaningful.

Grace and Peace,
Clayton Peak

Day 2

Yesterday (Wednesday, February 28), I created a link between this Blogspot blog and my Facebook page. So today I am typing a "test message" to see how well the link is working. I realize that all of you dear readers were hoping for something more than a test message. So I ask you to be patient and bear with me. Once all of the bugs are worked out, The Dunger Peak will once again be your number one source for information, entertainment, and inspiration! Ta-Ta For Now!

Success!

Good News. I have successfully managed to link this blog to my Facebook profile. What a world of opportunities that will open up. So be prepared for more frequent entries. It's a wonderful world we live in--better living through electronic communication!

Facebook Link

Dear Friends,
Last December, a friend of mine invited me to join Facebook. I was rather reluctant to join, but went ahead. Since then I've been hooked. Facebook is a lot of fun, and I've been able to make connections with folks I haven't seen in years.

Here's the rub. Whereas anyone with internet access can read the entries posted here at blogspot, only Facebook members can read what I post there. I recently learned from my friend Deb Spaulding that I can link this blog to my facebook account. That would be a tremendous help in a number of ways:
(1) I wouldn't have to do double duty--type something here and then type the same thing again on Facebook. I could just type it here, and then Facebook would "import" it.
(2) Whatever I type here would be available to the "general public" AND to Facebook members. So that saves Facebook members from having to check both sites.
(3) I am more likely to blog more often here, knowing that it will also be sent to Facebook.
(4) As I get more into podcasting, my podcasts will be accessible to a larger audience.

So in the very near future, I will be linking the two sites. You probably won't notice any difference at this end, but I sure Facebook users will appreciate the link.

As with anything, I am constantly experimenting and trying new things. So, stay tuned because you never know what's coming next!

Psalm24

Dear Friends,

I think I have found something new and exciting for our blog--podcasting! I just recently purchased a microphone that I can plug directly into my computer to make recordings. Although I do not have all the bells and wistles of a professional recording studio, I am able to make fairly decent recordings, especially of the spoken word.

I then set up an account with Box.net. Box.net allows me to upload audio files and store them online. Once a file is online, I can then create a link from this blog to Box.net which allows people to either listen to the file or download it.

So this is my first time to podcast. Go up to the title of the post "Psalm24" and click on it. [If that doesn't wor, then click HERE. You should be directed to Box.net. You will then have the option of downloading the file OR playing it. Choose whichever you prefer. Some of you have already heard this file when I directly emailed it to you on Monday, February 25. But this is my first time to link it to my blog. So please check it out and let me know how it works. Since I am new to podcasting, there may be a few bugs in the system to work out. So I welcome your feedback, comments, and input as I embark on this new adventure!
