Daily Word: Acceptance

Here is the Daily Word for Wednesday, November 16, 2011. What a powerful affirmation! ♥cap

++++++++++++++++++

Acceptance

I accept and bless myself and others.

Acceptance is a powerful word, for it implies a willingness to listen and be open. Acceptance does not necessarily mean that I adopt another's point of view; it means I accept the right of another to have views different from my own. I accept people of different faiths, cultures and lifestyles. Each person is a child of God--divinely created and divinely guided.

I accept myself as well. I do not judge harshly my past mistakes or perceived short-comings. I give myself the freedom to make mistakes, to have a unique point of view and to continue to learn and grow as a spiritual being. By accepting myself and others, I embrace differences and celebrate the uniqueness of every individual.

Do not judge, so that you may not be judged.--Matthew 7:1

SWS: Be Yourself

I love this quote. It's some good advice that everyone needs to follow. Pass this one along, because it is certainly Something Worth Sharing! ♥ cap

"Be a first-rate version of yourself, not a second-rate version of someone else."

TPT: Real Success

Today's Power Thought (TPT) comes from author and lecturer David McCollough.

Real success is finding your life's work in the work that you love.

TPT: Make Room for Joy

Today's Power Thought comes--once again--from the June 2008 issue of Bits and Pieces. (If you haven't guessed already, I love that magazine.)

When you recover or discover something that nourishes your soul and brings joy, care enough about yourself to make room for it in your life.

--Jean Shinoda Bolen, M.D.

This power thought by Dr. Bolen reminds me of a quote and a story:

Quote: "Don't prioritize your schedule; schedule your priorities!"--Dr. Stephen Covey

Story: Filling up the jar.
(Here's the short version). A man fills a jar with large stones. Is the jar full? No. He then adds a bunch of small pebbles. Is the jar full now? No. He then adds sand to fill in all the spaces. Is the jar is full now? No. He then adds water until it flows over the sides. Now the jar is full!
Moral: If you don't put the big stones in first, there won't be room for them later. The same is true for our lives. If we don't give first priority to the important and foundational things of our lives, they will be crowded out by smaller and less significant things.

TPT: from Mr. Rogers

I must admit that I am a big fan of Mr. Fred Rogers! Even though it's been 5 years (and a few months) since he passed away, Mr. Rogers' kind and caring personality, along with his message of hope and encouragement, will continue to be an inspiration for all time.

Here's a quote from Mr. Rogers that I found today while reading the May 2008 issue of Bits and Pieces.

As human beings, our job in life is to help people realize how rare and valuable each one of us really is, that each of us has something that no one else has--or ever will have--something inside that is unique to all time. It's our job to encourage each other to discover that uniqueness and to provide ways of developing its expression. --Fred Rogers.

TPT: Live in the Moment

In a post dated April 28, 2008, I indicated that from time-to-time I would be sharing a "Power Thought" on this blog. If I find something particularly inspiring, why not share it with others who may find it equally inspiring! Yet I got to thinking--so far, every time I've posted an inspiring thought I have always used the title "Today's Power Thought." After a while it might be confusing to have post-after-post-after-post titled "Today's Power Thought." PLUS, if there was ever a thought that you wanted to go back and reference, you'd have to go back and read through every post under the title "Today's Power Thought" to find it.

So here is what I'm going to do. In the title line you will find "TPT". As you can guess, that stands for "Today's Power Thought". Following "TPT" will be a few words to describe the subject of the power thought. Hopefully this new title format will make it easier to read and access these words of wisdom and inspiration.

Today's Power Thought comes from actor, game show host, Dancing with the Stars winner, and philanthropist John O'Hurley.

The following is culled from a interview he gave in the May/June 2008 issue of Positive Thinking.

"The fundamental lesson is that dogs live in the present moment. The greatest gift that we can give ourselves is to live in the present moment and not live with a sense of regret or expectation. You'd be surprised how rich everything can be if you don't worry about the future or the past. I think that's the thing that dogs teach us."

Woof, woof!

Today's Power Thought

I came across the following piece in the March/April 2008 issue of Positive Thinking magazine. I find these words inspiring, and I hope you will also.

Go after your dreams now! Do you have a life goal? Whether it's sailing around the world or getting your Ph.D., go for it! You can't take good health for granted. Don't wait for retirement to do what you've always dreamed of. Do it now.

Written by Jeff Alt, author of A Walk for Sunshine.

May all of you be so inspired to follow your dreams!

Attitude Adjustment

Dear Friends,
Here is a wonderful piece I received from a friend. What inspiring words of wisdom!

Enjoy,
Clayton

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Attitude -

There once was a woman who woke up one morning, looked in the mirror, and noticed she had only three hairs on her head.

Well,' she said, 'I think I'll braid my hair today?'
So she did and she had a wonderful day.

The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror and saw that she had only two hairs on her head.

'H-M-M,' she said, 'I think I'll part my hair down the middle today?'
So she did and she had a grand day.

The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror and noticed that she had only one hair on her head.

'Well,' she said, 'today I'm going to wear my hair in a pony tail.'
So she did and she had a fun, fun day.

The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror and noticed that there wasn't a single hair on her head.

'YEA!' she exclaimed, 'I don't have to fix my hair today!'

Attitude is everything.

Be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

Live simply,

Love generously,

Care deeply,

Speak kindly . . .

Leave the rest to God

Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass . . .

It's about learning to dance in the rain.
